Three Additional Judges Appointed as Permanent Judges in Bombay High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on February 20, 2025, approved the appointment of three Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court as Permanent Judges.

The judges who have been elevated to permanent positions are:
• Justice Shailesh Pramod Brahme
• Justice Firdosh Phiroze Pooniwalla
• Justice Jitendra Shantilal Jain

In addition to these appointments, the Collegium has also recommended the extension of Justice Manjusha Ajay Deshpande as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court for a fresh term of one year.

The decision was taken as part of the Supreme Court’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the judiciary by ensuring timely appointments and confirmations of judges. These appointments are expected to enhance the efficiency and functioning of the Bombay High Court, which handles a significant volume of cases.
