Court Upholds Sentence Against Azam Khan in 2008 Road Blockade Case

An MP-MLA court has upheld the conviction and sentence of Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan for his involvement in a 2008 case related to blocking a road outside a police station. Special Public Prosecutor Mohan Lal Vishnoi confirmed that the court rejected Khan’s appeal against the two-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3,000 imposed on him.

The case originated from an incident in 2008 when Azam Khan, who was then a cabinet minister in Uttar Pradesh, along with his son, Abdullah Azam, allegedly blocked the road outside the Chhajlat police station. This act led to their conviction by the special MP-MLA court, which is designated to handle cases involving legislators.

Azam Khan is currently serving his sentence in Sitapur jail in connection with this case. The appeal of his son, Abdullah Azam, is still under consideration in other judicial forums.
