Kapil Sibal Prepares to Initiate Impeachment Against Allahabad High Court Judge Over Controversial Remarks

As per the report of ABP News, a notable reaction to the controversial statement made by Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav of the Allahabad High Court during a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) event, Rajya Sabha MP and lawyer Kapil Sibal expressed deep concerns, stating that such remarks are divisive for India. Sibal emphasized that even politicians refrain from making such comments and that it is unbecoming of someone sworn to protect the Constitution.

“The appointment of a judge who makes such statements is questionable. How can someone dare to make such statements? This has been happening for the last 10 years. There are people who make such statements and then resign to join the BJP and subsequently become members of the Rajya Sabha,” Sibal commented, suggesting that the Supreme Court should take strict actions and bar the judge from presiding over any cases.

He urged the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, and others in power to support the impeachment motion and send a clear message that the judiciary must remain impartial and free from biased influences. “If they do not support us, it will appear that they stand with the judge,” added Sibal.

What Did Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav Say?

Justice Yadav was reported to have said, “The term ‘Kathmulla’ is incorrect, but I do not hesitate to use it as it is harmful to the country. These are the kind of people who provoke the public and prefer that the country does not progress. We need to be cautious of such individuals.”
