Foundation Stone Unveiling Ceremony Of Various Infrastructure Projects Of The High Court Of Gujarat

The foundation stone unveiling ceremony of the various infrastructure projects of the High Court of Gujarat was performed by the auspicious hands of Hon’ble the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel & Hon’ble Mr Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court of India. Hon’ble Mrs Justice Sunita Agarwal, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Gujarat, Hon’ble Law Minister of the State of Gujarat, Shri Rushikeshbhai Patel, sitting Judges of the High Court of Gujarat, Advocate General, Mr. Kamal B. Trivedi and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

The first project was the proposed New 21 Courts Building. The said building shall come up on 10,690 sq.m. of the area and will feature 21 advanced courtrooms spread across three floors. The building shall have parking space on 2500 sq.m. Keeping in view the accessibility of the building by different stakeholders, separate elevators for Hon’ble Judges and litigants, separate washrooms for men, women and gender neutral and for differently abled individuals shall be constructed. The building also includes features like directional Tactile tiles, Braille signages, ramps and a well-planned layout which also demonstrates the commitment to providing a barrier-free environment for all sections. Safety with advanced fire fighting systems, solar rooftops and water harvesting shall promote sustainable energy use and environmental responsibility.

The Foundation stone unveiling ceremony of the proposed new Administrative building and record room was also performed. Designed with cutting-edge technology, the building is expected to streamline administrative operations and record-keeping. The building shall be of G+3 floors having parking on the ground floor, Officers’ chambers on the first floor, Offices of staff members on the second floor and a record room on the third floor. The key features include elevators, compactors for efficient record storage, modern flooring, an advanced fire safety system, a rooftop solar panel and a water harvesting system. Accessibility is prioritized with Tactile tiles, Braille signages and an inclusive layout. Modern furniture facilities shall ensure optimum utilization of the space.

Foundation Stone was also laid for a new and exclusive building for the Information Technology (IT) Cell of the High Court by Hon’ble Mr Justice Suryakant, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Hon’ble the Chief Minister of the State of Gujarat. This dedicated building, spanning four floors with about 1500 square meters of total usable space shall be housing a futuristic data centre along with the requisite network and uninterrupted power supply room to cater to the needs of hosting and storage for the whole justice delivery system of the State of Gujarat including the High Court as well as the District Judiciary. The new IT Cell building will also include dedicated space for the Digitization of Case Records of the High Court and two large halls for Software Development Units being manned by the in-house teams of the High Court. An exclusive setup for the War Room of the High Court coupled with a monitoring mechanism cum control centre for the CCTV footage of the whole Court Complexes across the state of Gujarat shall also be part of the new IT Cell building. Including the space for storing the hardware equipment and gadgets for the whole complex of the High Court of Gujarat and accommodating the technical administrative officers and staff of the IT Cell, there shall also be space for a Video Conferencing Hall and training lab for the officers and staff of the High Court.

The foundation stone was also laid by Hon’ble Mr Justice Suryakant, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Hon’ble the Chief Minister of the State of Gujarat for a new Recreation Building for the Gujarat State Judicial Academy campus. This new Recreation Centre shall offer an indoor Badminton Court and outdoor sports facilities of a Volleyball Court and a Law Tennis Court for the Judicial Officers, employees of the High Court the guests staying at the Academy. This Building shall have a welcoming Entrance Foyer and Reception Area including a waiting lounge, a Multipurpose Hall, a Yoga Room, a Modern Swimming Pool and open Lawns and lounges. All these facilities are dedicated to both sitting and former Hon’ble Judges and their family members for their fitness and well-being, ensuring a serene environment to rejuvenate and nurture their holistic harmony. Reflecting the belief that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body, this initiative is not merely about recreation – it is about fostering a culture that values balance, resilience and growth. This another Recreation Centre will elevate the overall campus experience being a testament to the dedication of the High Court of Gujarat to the holistic development of the Hon’ble Judges, Judicial Officers and the Staff.

The Hon’ble Supreme Court has consistently emphasised the importance of modern infrastructure to strengthen the Judicial system and these projects stand as a symbol of the commitment of the High Court of Gujarat to modernization, enhancing the ability to serve the system and public efficiently and also to progress, efficiency and the seamless function of the Judicial system. The state-of-the-art facilities shall transform the Judicial system and provide a more conducive environment for all those who seek Justice.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister of Gujarat and Hon’ble Justice Surya Kant praised the efforts of the High Court of Gujarat in streamlining the Judicial system and for providing state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities as the same are necessary for the strengthening of the Judicial system. The Hon’ble Chief Justice of the High Court of Gujarat expressed gratitude to Hon’ble Justice Surya Kant for his guidance and support and the Hon’ble Chief Minister for clearance and financial support in respect of these and various other projects of the High Court of Gujarat.
