Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj organized a two-day Conquerors Intra Moot Court Competition from 21st to 22nd August 2024. The competition aimed to provide an opportunity for budding lawyers to compete and hone their skills in arguing matters in the Moot Court Competition.
The moot proposition was based on the Law of Contract. It revolved around the basic concept of promissory estoppel, principles of limitation law, and maintainability of a civil dispute and particularly delved into the scope of a contract and its formation under the principles of the Law of Contract.
On 21st August 2024, the teams participated in two intellectually demanding and gruelling preliminary rounds which were adjudged by practicing advocates of Allahabad High Court namely Advocate Anoop Baranwal, Advocate Shashank Bhatt, Advocate Aarushi Khare, Advocate Harsh Tiwari, Advocate Shivendra, etc. The teams were thoroughly tested on their knowledge of law and facts. The preliminary rounds were followed by the semi-final rounds which included the top 4 teams.
The semi-final rounds were conducted on 22nd August, and were adjudged by division judge benches each consisting of senior advocates and practicing lawyers. The judges for the semi-finals were Senior Advocate Praveen Kumar Giri (Additional Advocate General), Advocate Pankaj Tripathi, Advocate Vijay Kumar Ojha, and Advocate Parijat Mishra. The semi-final rounds pushed hard for a straight win against the opposite teams.
The riveting and most significant final round was conducted on the evening of 22nd August and was adjudged by a two-judge bench consisting of Honโble Vice-Chancellor Senior Professor Dr. Usha Tandon and Senior Advocate Shri Radhakant Ojha, Ex-President Uttar Pradesh High Court Bar Association.
The team comprising Srijal Mishra, Suryansh Mishra, and SaumyaSachan successfully emerged victorious at the Competition. The team comprising Tejaswi Sharma, Janhavi Singh, and Pratibha Gaur was adjudicated as Runners Up. The team comprising Siddhi Sharma, Rounak, and Viplav Sinha bagged the award of Best Memorial. Abhyuday Sharan was adjudged as the Best Speaker. Nandini bagged the award of Best Researcher. โThe competition provided a platform to assess the knowledge of law& facts of the budding lawyers and to test their mooting and advocacy skillsโ said Usha Tandon, the Vice-Chancellor. Senior Advocate Shri Radhakant Ojha advised the students โAn advocate shall use his best efforts to restrain and prevent his client from resorting to any unfair practiceโ. โthe students worked very hard and exhibited their talent well in the competitionโ remarked Dr Sonika, the teacher convenor.
