The Madras High Court has adjourned the hearing on former Tamil Nadu Minister V. Senthil Balaji’s appeal against a sessions court order that refused to discharge him from a money laundering case. The hearing, originally scheduled for Wednesday, has been postponed to August 28 at the request of Balaji’s advocate, Gouthaman.
The division bench, comprising Justices S.M. Subramaniam and V. Sivagnanam, granted the adjournment after Additional Solicitor General A.R.L. Sundaresan informed the court that charges had already been framed against Senthil Balaji in the money laundering case. The case, overseen by Principal Sessions Judge S. Alli, has progressed with the trial commencing and the examination of a prosecution witness. The trial is set to continue on August 22 with cross-examination.
Despite the adjournment, the bench noted that the ongoing trial may proceed as scheduled.
