In a dramatic turn of events, an additional district judge at a special POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) court in Dehradun acquitted a 42-year-old laundryman, who was falsely accused of raping his 15-year-old daughter. The accusation, which led to his five-year imprisonment, was recently overturned after it was revealed that the allegations were fabricated by the daughter as retaliation for her fatherโs disapproval of her skipping school and dating.
The case originated from a complaint lodged by the Child Welfare Committee on December 25, 2019, after the girl reported sexual abuse by her father, supported by claims from her younger sister. The father was arrested two days later and has been in jail since.
Investigations later uncovered letters the daughter had written to her boyfriend, which became pivotal in the trial. During cross-questioning, she confessed to being influenced by her boyfriend to file the false charges against her father to express her displeasure over his strict parenting methods.

Key testimony during the trial included medical evidence presented by a doctor, stating that the medical examination did not confirm rape, aligning with the fatherโs consistent denial of the accusations.
