In a significant development, a special CBI court has allowed Indrani Mukerjea, the key figure in the Sheena Bora murder case, to travel to Europe for a brief period. Mukerjea, who holds British nationality, has been granted permission to visit Britain and Spain for ten days to address matters related to her bank account and property.
Mukerjea’s application, submitted on July 18, detailed her requirements to travel overseasโspecifically to be physically present at Banco Sabadell in Spain for executing crucial documents and to update her will concerning her Spanish property. She also sought permission to enter the United Kingdom, where she is a citizen.
The court stipulated that Mukerjea’s travel must fit within a three-month window and should not interfere with consecutive trial dates. Additionally, she is required to engage with the CBI before leaving and after returning to India and must submit a โน2 lakh cash security as a part of the travel conditions.

Indrani Mukerjea was arrested in 2015, accused of the abduction and murder of her daughter, Sheena Bora, in 2012. Alongside her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamwar Rai, Mukerjea is charged with murdering Sheena on April 24, 2012, and disposing of her body in Raigad district’s forest area the following day.
