Delhi Court Extends Manish Sisodia’s Judicial Custody in Alleged Excise Scam Case

In a recent development, a Delhi court has prolonged the judicial custody of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia until July 26, concerning a corruption case linked to the purported excise scam. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja issued the extension as Sisodia’s previous custody period concluded.

The decision follows a series of legal proceedings against Sisodia involving allegations of corruption and money laundering in connection with the Delhi excise policy. The cases are being handled by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). On April 30, the court rejected Sisodia’s applications for bail in these matters.

Earlier on July 15, the same court, presided over by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, had also extended Sisodia’s custody after a review via video conferencing. This extension was intended to last until July 22, but has now been extended further.

The ongoing legal battle stems from accusations leveled against Sisodia and others involved in the alleged excise policy scam, which has been a significant point of contention and investigation by federal agencies. During the last hearing on July 15, proceedings were deferred after hearing submissions from Advocate Nitesh Rana, pushing the discussions on charges to a later date.
