The Ministry of Law and Justice has cleared the permanent appointment of Justice Abhay Ojha, Additional Judge of Bombay High Court.

In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, the Hon’ble President of India, after consultation with Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Abhay Ahuja Additional Judge, Bombay High Court as a Permanent Judge of that High Court.
About Justice Ahuja
Born on August 24, 1969, Justice Ahuja completed a Science degree at Jai Hind College, Mumbai, in 1989 and pursued a Bachelor of Laws at the Government Law College, Mumbai. He was enrolled as an Advocate to the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa in August 1992 after earning their LL.B. He obtained a Masters in Commercial Laws (LL.M) from the University Department of Law, University of Mumbai, in 1994.
In 1995, he became a qualified Solicitor in India, followed by becoming a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales in 1999, and an Advocate-on-Record at the Supreme Court of India in 2000.
His legal practice has predominantly focused on commercial, corporate, property, and taxation law. He has represented and advised the Government, its departments, PSUs, banks, corporates, and individuals in various legal forums including the Supreme Court, Bombay High Court, Delhi High Court, and other courts and tribunals across India.
In 2008, he was appointed as Senior Standing Counsel for the Income Tax Department. He became the Senior Panel Counsel, Group I, for the Government of India in 2015, and in 2018, he served as Senior Panel Counsel for the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Board of India. He played a significant role in representing the Government in critical matters until his appointment as a Judge of the Bombay High Court on March 4, 2020.
