In a recent ruling, the Delhi High Court held that lawyers’ offices operating from residential buildings cannot be subjected to property tax under the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act. The court maintained that the professional activities of lawyers should not be considered as commercial activity and, therefore, do not fall under the purview of “business buildings.”
