Violation of Uniform Civil Code Will Forfeit Voting Rights

The debate over the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has heated up in the run-up to the 2024 elections. There is much debate about this in BJP-ruled states. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand will be the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code.

Population control, according to the information revealed, has also been included in the Uniform Civil Code that will be implemented in Uttarakhand. It is included on the basis of Concurrent List Entry 20A. Aside from population control, this also includes family planning. It will be incorporated into the Uniform Civil Code in accordance with the Responsible Parenthood Bill 2018 introduced in Parliament.

These rights will be revoked

The provisions enacted as a result of this law are extremely stringent. People who violate the two-child rule will be denied the right to vote under this bill. Aside from that, the right to use government facilities may be revoked. This decision was made in light of Uttarakhand’s rapidly changing demographics.

The BJP had included the Uniform Civil Code in its election manifesto in Uttarakhand. Following the formation of the government, work on which has begun. CM Dhami has now stated that it will be implemented soon. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended the “Enlightenment Conference” in Dehradun, where Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made the announcement.
