Verification Halted for Over 7000 Lawyers: What is the Reason?

The Uttar Pradesh Bar Council has released a list of lawyers across the state whose verification has not been completed yet. The verification process for lawyers occurs every five years, requiring them to submit all necessary documents. This year, a significant number of lawyers submitted incomplete documents, resulting in a halt to their verification.

Verification Status

Lucknow and Prayagraj have the highest number of lawyers with incomplete verification. In Lucknow, 2,897 lawyers and in Prayagraj, 2,052 lawyers have submitted incomplete documents. Additionally, 653 lawyers in Varanasi, 124 in Ayodhya, 179 in Mathura, 305 in Azamgarh, 329 in Agra, 274 in Sultanpur, 47 in Amethi, 252 in Barabanki, 125 in Badaun, 76 in Mahoba, 355 in Jaunpur, 208 in Gonda, and 112 in Siddharthnagar are also awaiting verification.

Committee Proceedings

A three-member inquiry committee, including retired judges, has been formed to ensure the verification process is conducted fairly and accurately. This committee is meticulously examining the lawyers’ documents. Lawyers who have submitted incomplete documents may have their names removed from the Bar Council.

The committee is particularly focusing on the verification of 10th and 12th-grade mark sheets to eliminate those practicing with fraudulent documents. Lawyers who have not submitted the necessary documents have been warned that their names may be removed from the Bar Council.

This time, the verification process is being carried out with transparency and strictness to prevent fraud and ensure that all practicing lawyers continue their practice with valid and accurate documents.
