Uttarakhand High Court Denies Anticipatory Bail to Nainital Dairy Union President in Rape Case

In a recent judicial ruling, the Uttarakhand High Court dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of Mukesh Bora, the president of the Nainital dairy union, who faces serious allegations of rape and violations under the POCSO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. Justice Ravindra Maithani presided over the decision, declaring the bail application unsustainable due to the gravity of the charges and the ongoing nature of the case.

Mukesh Bora, who has been on the run since the FIR was filed, had previously attempted to secure a stay on his arrest, which the High Court also rejected. On Saturday, through his legal representatives, Bora sought to obtain anticipatory bail, arguing his case before the court.

The court, however, stood firm against granting bail in cases involving significant criminal charges, especially those under special acts like POCSO, NDPS (Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances), and PC Act (Prevention of Corruption Act). The state’s opposition to Bora’s bail plea further solidified the court’s stance.
