In a recent development, the Central government confirmed on March 26 the extension of three additional judges at the Chhattisgarh High Court for another year. The decision follows recommendations from the Supreme Court Collegium made on March 20.
The judges granted the extension are:
Justice Sachin Singh Rajput

Justice Radhakishan Agrawal
Justice Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal
This marks the second instance of term extensions for Justices Rajput and Agrawal. Both had previously received a one-year extension in May 2024, following the Collegium’s proposal in April of the same year. Justice Rajput, who was initially appointed to the High Court in May 2022, came from the Bar. Justice Agrawal, before his elevation in August 2022, had a substantial career as a district and sessions judge.
Justice Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal, who joined the Chhattisgarh High Court in April 2023, has a rich background in judiciary, having served as a judicial officer in various capacities and as the Registrar General of the High Court before his elevation.
The Chhattisgarh High Court, with these extensions, continues to address its caseload with a current working strength of 16 judges, although it is authorized for up to 22. The extensions are seen as essential in maintaining the efficiency and continuity within the judicial processes at the High Court amidst its ongoing challenges in judge vacancies.
