Aadhaar-based voter identification card Linking: Following the passage of the Election Laws (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha in December 2021, the linking of Aadhaar with voter IDs was authorised.
The deadline for linking voter ID to Aadhaar cards has been extended from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024, according to the government. By March 31, 2024, users will be able to link their Aadhaar to their voter ID online or via SMS. The linking process is not mandatory, but it aids in “identification of registration of the same person’s name in more than one constituency or more than once in the same constituency,” according to the Election Commission.
