Aadhaar-based voter identification card Linking: Following the passage of the Election Laws (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha in December 2021, the linking of Aadhaar with voter IDs was authorised.

The deadline for linking voter ID to Aadhaar cards has been extended from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024, according to the government. By March 31, 2024, users will be able to link their Aadhaar to their voter ID online or via SMS. The linking process is not mandatory, but it aids in “identification of registration of the same person’s name in more than one constituency or more than once in the same constituency,” according to the Election Commission.

“The Central Government hereby makes the following amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Law and Justice (Legislative Department), number S.O.2893(E), dated 17th June 2022,” the ministry of Law and Justice said in a notification.

Following the passage of the Election Laws (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha in December 2021, the linking of Aadhaar with voter IDs was authorised.

Here’s how to link your Aadhaar card to your voter ID online:

Step 1: Go to the National Voter’s Service Portal’s official website (https://nvsp.in/).

Step 2: Access the portal.

Step 3: Select the “Search Electoral Roll” option.

Step 4: Fill out the form and then enter your Aadhaar number.

Step 5: Users will then receive an OTP on their registered mobile number or email address for authentication purposes.

Step 6: Type in the OTP. Your Voter ID card will be linked to your Aadhaar card as a result of this.
