Telangana High Court Grants Bail to Choreographer Jani Master in Sexual Assault Case

The Telangana High Court has granted bail to Jani Master, a National Award-winning choreographer, following his arrest last month over allegations of sexual assault. The arrest was made by the Cyberabad Police after a woman, who worked with Jani Master during outdoor film shoots, accused him of sexual misconduct.

The police, acting on a tip-off, launched a search operation spanning Nellore, Goa, and Bengaluru, ultimately apprehending Jani Master in Bengaluru. He was booked under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as the case involves serious allegations that prompted immediate law enforcement action. Initially, a zero FIR was filed at Raidurgam police station, which was later transferred to Narsingi police station to facilitate investigation near the complainant’s residence.

The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce responded to the allegations by forming a committee to investigate the claims against Jani Master. Meanwhile, the Telangana State Commission for Women has also become involved, with chairperson Nerella Sharada confirming that the complainant sought help from the commission. Sharada promised police protection and additional support to the accuser amidst the ongoing legal process.

This case has not only shaken the entertainment industry but has also stirred political controversy. The Telangana BJP Mahila Morcha has referred to the allegations as an example of “Love Jihad,” adding a communal angle to the discourse. Furthermore, the Jana Sena Party, which Jani Master supported in recent elections, has advised him to refrain from party activities while the legal proceedings are underway.
