Important cases heard by the Supreme Court on Thursday, December 7:
* SC directed the Centre to provide data on the number of Bangladeshi immigrants granted Indian citizenship in Assam between January 1, 1966 and March 25, 1971.
* SC dismissed an application seeking enforcement of the 2020 guidelines issued by it on state-imposed internet shutdowns.
* The historic Kesavananda Bharati verdict that laid down the “basic structure doctrine” of the Constitution is now available in 10 Indian languages on the SC website at a time when the nation is commemorating 50 years of the judgement, Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud said.
