Supreme Court Round-Up for Monday

Important cases heard by the Supreme Court on Monday, January 8:

* SC quashed the remission granted by the Gujarat government to 11 convicts in the high-profile case of gangrape of Bilkis Bano and the killing of her seven family members, while slamming the state for being “complicit” with an accused and abusing its discretion.

* SC sought responses from the Centre and others on a plea of the E-gaming Federation against the levy of 28 per cent Goods and Service Tax on all forms of online real-money gaming.

* SC dismisses plea by Mukta Dabholkar, daughter of late rationalist Narendra Dabholkar, challenging a Bombay High Court order refusing to continue monitoring the investigation into the killing of her father.
