Supreme Court Orders Removal of Female Lawyer Creating Ruckus Without Petition; Bench Suggests Filing Plea

High drama ensued in the Supreme Court on Wednesday when a female lawyer disrupted proceedings by raising a personal grievance without filing a formal petition. The Bench, presided over by Justice Surya Kant, was forced to order her removal from the courtroom by security personnel after she refused to adhere to court procedures and created a ruckus.

The disruption occurred during the court proceedings when a female lawyer appeared before the Bench without any listed case or filed petition. Disregarding the standard procedure, she began narrating her grievance, claiming that a friend of hers had been murdered in a guest house in Delhi while she was in Mumbai.

She further alleged serious misconduct by the police, stating that the officer who had initially refused to register the First Information Report (FIR) regarding the incident had now been appointed as the Investigating Officer (IO) in the same case.

The Bench, led by Justice Surya Kant, initially attempted to handle the situation with patience. Intervening in her narration, the Justice suggested that she follow the due process of law. He advised her to file a formal petition regarding the matter, assuring her that the Court would definitely take cognizance of the issue once it was placed on record through the correct legal channels.

In response to the Court’s suggestion, the lawyer claimed she was suffering from depression. Acknowledging her distress, the Bench suggested that other members of the Bar present in the court could assist her in filing the necessary plea.

Despite the Court’s advice and attempt to proceed with other listed petitions, the lawyer refused to yield. She continued to shout and argue, obstructing the judicial proceedings.

When court marshals approached her to escort her out following her refusal to desist, the situation escalated. The lawyer reportedly shouted at the security staff, “Don’t be rude, don’t touch me,” while continuing her arguments. She asserted that there was a threat to her security which she wanted to convey to the Court.

Another female lawyer present in the courtroom attempted to intervene, advising her colleague to maintain the decorum of the Court. However, the disruptionist snapped back, telling the intervening lawyer not to speak to her in that manner.

Observing that the lawyer was unwilling to heed warnings or follow procedure, and that the proceedings were being stalled, the Bench ordered her removal. Acting on the Court’s directive, security personnel escorted the lawyer out of the courtroom to restore order.
