Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Appointment of Eight Judicial Officers as Judges of Allahabad HC

The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on April 2, 2025, has approved the elevation of eight Judicial Officers for appointment as Judges of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad.

The recommendation comes as part of the ongoing process to fill vacancies in the Allahabad High Court, one of the largest High Courts in India. The Collegium, comprising Chief Justice of India Justice Sanjeev Khanna and other senior judges, took the decision after due consideration of the service records and suitability of the candidates.

The names approved for elevation are:

Shri Madan Pal Singh

Shri Harvir Singh

These recommendations will now be forwarded to the Ministry of Law and Justice for formal appointment by the President of India.

With this move, the Collegium seeks to strengthen the Allahabad High Court, which has been functioning with a significant number of vacancies affecting the pace of judicial proceedings. The newly recommended judges are expected to bring both experience and judicial acumen to the Bench.
