Student writes to CJI Ramana, suggesting to use seized Remdisever and Medicines for Treatment of COVID Patients

Law students from various National Law Universities have sent a letter to Hon’ble Justice NV Ramana listing various solutions and suggestions to contain the ongoing pandemic.

Twenty-five law students sign the letter, and it lists out various solutions for the pandemic.

The students stated that life-saving drugs and medicines are being sold on the black market. The students state once these drugs/equipment get confiscated by the police, it goes to waste, but instead, it should be given to the needy. They also suggested that the Court direct manufacturers to directly send the stock to District Collectors, which can then be sent to hospitals.

The students have also stated that the price of essential drugs and oxygen cylinders should be fixed, and local authorities should form flying squads to check any malpractice.

On the issue of the unavailability of hospital beds, the students suggested there should be uniform and standard guidelines for hospitals. Hospitals should consider the medical condition of the patient at the time of appointment. It was further suggested that hospitals should not insist on seeing the Covid+ report at the time of admission.

According to the students, testing of infrastructure and the number of tests conducted should be increased significantly. The government should rope in the army and other defence forces to ramp up testing.
