SC Collegium Recommends Justice Arun Palli from P&H HC as Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court

In a significant judicial appointment, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended Justice Arun Palli, currently serving at the Punjab & Haryana High Court, as the next Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The recommendation, made on Saturday, underscores the notable legal acumen and extensive judicial experience of Justice Palli.

Justice Palli, who was designated as a Senior Advocate on April 26, 2007, has a storied career marked by his significant contributions as Amicus Curiae in various complex legal matters before the High Court. His expertise spans a broad array of subjects, having addressed intricate legal propositions before both Division and Full Benches. His legal prowess extends beyond the local courts, with Justice Palli having argued critical cases before the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court, as well as in the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

Elevated to the Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on December 28, 2013, Justice Palli has also played a pivotal role in legal services. Since May 31, 2023, he has been the Executive Chairman of the Haryana State Legal Services Authority. Further enhancing his contributions to legal outreach, he was nominated as a Member of the Governing Body of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) on October 31, 2023, for a tenure of two years.
