Rajasthan High Court Stays FIR Against Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone in Defective Vehicle Case

The Rajasthan High Court has granted relief to Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and actress Deepika Padukone by staying the FIR lodged against them in Bharatpur over allegations of marketing defective vehicles.

The matter was heard by Justice Sudesh Bansal, who issued an interim stay on proceedings in the case. The FIR, which also names Hyundai Motor India’s Managing Director Anso Kim, Whole Time Director and COO Tarun Garg, and certain showroom owners, accused the brand ambassadors and company officials of promoting a defective car model.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal represented Shah Rukh Khan via video conferencing, while senior advocate Madhav Mitra appeared for Deepika Padukone. Senior advocate Vivek Raj Bajwa argued for MD Anso Kim.

The petitions filed by the accused parties contended that there were no specific allegations against them. They pointed out that the complainant, advocate Kirti Singh, had used the vehicle for over three years, covering more than 67,000 km, and if there had been any grievances, the appropriate remedy was to approach a consumer court rather than lodging a criminal case.
