Rahul Gandhi Seeks Supreme Court Intervention in Defamation Case Over Savarkar Comments

In a significant legal move, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has approached the Supreme Court, challenging an order from the Allahabad High Court that declined to quash a summons issued against him in a defamation case. The case concerns remarks he made about Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, a prominent historical figure.

The Supreme Court bench, comprising Justices Dipankar Datta and Manmohan, is slated to hear Gandhi’s plea this Friday. The controversy stems from comments Gandhi made on November 17, 2022, during his Bharat Jodo Yatra at a rally in Maharashtra’s Akola district.
