On 29 th, March 2025, Hon’ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court inaugurated, via virtual platform, the District and Additional Sessions Judge (Fast Track Court) in Ambagarh Chowki, a remote hilly forest area in Chhattisgarh. Hon’ble Shri Justice Sanjay S. Agarwal Portfolio Judge of District Rajnandgaon also graced this event by his virtual presence.
During this event, Hon’ble the Chief Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha emphasized his commitment to ensure that justice is accessible to all citizens across Chhattisgarh, particularly in remote and isolated forest regions. Historically residents of Ambagarh Chowki faced significant challenge of travelling long distances to seek justice; however, the court’s establishment will facilitate access to judicial resources for local inhabitants and legal practitioners in nearby rural areas.
On this occasion Hon’ble the Chief Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha appreciating the scenic beauty of the area remarked that – “the creation of this new court has given a boost to the infrastructure of the state judiciary. Furthermore, litigants and lawyers who have to travel long distances, about 100 to 150 kilometers, to seek justice in District Rajnandgaon will benefit from the new court at Ambagarh Chowki, which will reduce the inconvenience of travelling such long distances.”

In his address, Hon’ble the Chief Justice, congratulated the Judicial Officers and the employees, expressing his expectation that they will meet the demands of the litigants and lawyers seeking justice expeditiously. His Lordship directed them to do their best to assist to those coming to this new court.
Additionally, Hon’ble the Chief Justice acknowledged the support of his sister and brother Judges in establishing good infrastructure and a friendly atmosphere in the State of Chhattisgarh, as well as in the High Court and other district areas.
Coincidentally, this day also marked exactly two year since Hon’ble Shri Ramesh Sinha joined High Court of Chhattisgarh as the Chief Justice.
Since His Lordships’ appointment in Chhattisgarh, Chief Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha has consistently focused on enhancing the infrastructure within the State judiciary. Since His Lordships initial visit, his main focus has been the development of infrastructure in all District Courts across State of Chhattisgarh.
In this short period of His Lordships’ tenure from 29-03-2023 to 29-03-2025 out of estimated budget Rs. 171,50,79,606 in 2023-24 and Rs 355,10,85,882 in 2024-25, a total 94 construction works worth Rs. 1,57,61,209 in the year 2023-24 and 162 construction works worth Rs. 145,62,62,975 in 2024-25 were sanctioned for the advancement and renovation of judicial infrastructure in the State across.
At present, 61 court halls in District Court Establishment, 2 Court halls in Family Court Establishment and 3 court halls in Commercial Court Establishment are under construction.
As a result of these relentless efforts of Hon’ble the Chief Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha towards ensuring swift justice by strengthening infrastructure at District judiciary level a total of 713791 cases were disposed of from 01/04/2024 to 28/02/2025.
Previously, the establishment of the Additional District Judge Court in Ambagarh Chowki was deemed unfeasible due to inadequate infrastructure. However, the recent inauguration of the Fast Track Court in Ambagarh Chowki stands as a testament to the exceptional leadership and foresight of Hon’ble the Chief Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha. This inauguration marks a pivotal achievement for the progress of the Ambagarh Chowki region.
This event was attended by Registrar General, Officers of the Registry virtually and Judges from Rajnandgaon District, the Collector, the Superintendent of Police from the District of Mohla Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Members of Rajnandgaon and Ambagarh Chowki Bar Associations, as well as a substantial number of local residents and public representatives in-person.
