One Case One Data’: CJI Surya Kant Launches Major Digital Overhaul to Integrate Indian Courts

In a significant move toward the complete digitization of India’s legal landscape, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on Monday announced the launch of two major technological initiatives designed to unify judicial data and simplify court access for the common citizen.

Speaking at the commencement of proceedings on May 11, 2026, the CJI unveiled the “One Case One Data” initiative alongside “Su Sahay”, an AI-powered chatbot designed to guide litigants through the complexities of Supreme Court services. These reforms mark a pivotal shift toward a more interconnected and transparent judicial database, spanning from the highest court in the land down to the taluka level.

The flagship “One Case One Data” project aims to eliminate the fragmentation of legal records by embedding multi-level information from all High Courts, district courts, and taluka courts into a single, unified system.

“We are commencing the ‘one case one data’ initiative with multi-level information of all High Courts, district and taluka court details embedded,” Chief Justice Surya Kant stated. “We look forward to developing an efficient case management system.”

Currently, judicial data is often siloed within individual jurisdictions. By creating a comprehensive and interconnected digital database, the initiative is expected to streamline how cases are tracked and managed across the country, reducing administrative delays and providing a “single source of truth” for every legal matter in the system.

Complementing the data integration is the launch of “Su Sahay,” an Artificial Intelligence-powered chatbot integrated directly into the Supreme Court’s website. Developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) in collaboration with the Supreme Court Registry, the tool acts as a digital concierge for the public.

The CJI described the chatbot as a “simple and convenient interface” for citizens who often struggle to navigate the “front-end” of the legal system. The tool provides essential guidance on accessing services, filing procedures, and general court-related inquiries.

“I am quite confident that these initiatives will prove beneficial for all stakeholders,” the CJI said, extending his appreciation to the Registry officials and members of the Bar for their roles in the development of these tools.

These initiatives represent the latest step in the judiciary’s ongoing efforts to leverage technology to reduce the massive backlog of cases and make the Supreme Court more accessible to those outside the legal profession. By combining high-level data architecture with user-friendly AI, the court aims to demystify the legal process for millions of Indians.
