NGT Seeks Response from MCD, Delhi Govt on Plea Over Jangpura ‘Dhalao’ Pollution Concerns

The National Green Tribunal has asked the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the Delhi government and other authorities to respond to a petition highlighting environmental and health hazards linked to a garbage collection point in Jangpura.

A resident of Jangpura A-Block approached the tribunal complaining about littering, foul odour and public health risks caused by improper waste handling at the dhalao. The plea said the site had become a persistent nuisance for the neighbourhood.

In an order dated November 7, the tribunal noted that the dhalao in Sector 9, Rohini continues to function even though the MCD has announced plans to shut all such points by December 31, 2024. Taking the allegation seriously, the bench sought detailed replies from the MCD, the Delhi government, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee and A G Enviro Infra Projects.

The matter has been listed for further hearing on February 3, 2026.
