In a revealing response under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, the Bar Council of India (BCI) has disclosed that only 48.36% of candidates passed the 18th edition of the All India Bar Examination (AIBE 18), which took place on December 10, 2023.

The data indicates that out of the 144,014 candidates who appeared for the examination, 74,368 failed to clear it.

The RTI request was filed by Advocate Shibu Babu, who sought detailed information from the BCI on several aspects of the examination process, including its frequency, registration procedures, and the rationale behind the non-disclosure of candidates’ marks.

According to the BCI, the examination saw a total registration of 148,781 candidates.
