Massive Reshuffle in Uttar Pradesh Judiciary: 42 District Judges Transferred Across the State

In a significant administrative move, the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad has ordered a large-scale reshuffle of District and Sessions Judges across Uttar Pradesh. A total of 42 judicial officers have been transferred or posted to new assignments with immediate effect, as per Notification Nos. 1187 to 1228 dated 30 April 2025.

The administrative notification, issued under the signature of Registrar General Rajeev Bharti, reflects the High Court’s continued efforts to optimise judicial functioning and ensure efficiency in district courts. These transfers span nearly every zone of the state and include both lateral postings and promotions.

  • Sri Mayank Chauhan, previously Presiding Officer of the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation & Resettlement Authority in Gautam Buddha Nagar, has been posted as District & Sessions Judge, Auraiya.
  • Smt. Kamlesh Kuchhal, earlier posted in Sambhal at Chandausi, has been transferred to Jhansi as District & Sessions Judge.
  • Sri Sanjiv Pandey, serving in Varanasi, has been shifted to Meerut.
  • Dr. Babbu Sarang, District & Sessions Judge of Banda, will now serve in Firozabad.
  • Sri Ramesh Chand-I, Presiding Officer of the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Barabanki, has been elevated as Chairman of the Commercial Tax Tribunal in Lucknow.
  • Sri Pradeep Kumar Singh-II, previously District Judge of Kanpur Nagar, has now been posted as Senior Registrar at the Lucknow Bench of the High Court.
  • Sri Ashish Garg, District Judge of Mathura, has been transferred to Ghaziabad.
