Madras High Court Criticizes Superstition Over Roadside Stones Being Treated as Idols

The Madras High Court has expressed concern over the prevalent superstitious beliefs in India, where ordinary stones placed by the roadside, covered with cloth and surrounded by rituals, are claimed to attain the status of idols, thereby becoming immovable regardless of the inconvenience they may cause to others.
