Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: Former Principal of RG Kar Medical College Sent to Judicial Custody

In a recent development in the Kolkata rape-murder case involving an RG Kar Medical College and Hospital doctor, former principal Sandip Ghosh has been sent to judicial custody until September 23. The order was issued by a special CBI court on Tuesday, which also extended the custody of his security personnel, Afsar Ali, and two contractors, Biplab Sinha and Suman Hazra, involved in alleged financial irregularities.

Sandip Ghosh was arrested on September 2, following significant protests triggered by the rape and murder incident at the hospital. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which took over the case, had previously secured eight days of custody for Ghosh to probe into the financial discrepancies during his tenure as principal.
