Kerala High Court Disposes of Rahul Easwar’s Anticipatory Bail in Cyber Harassment Complaint

The Kerala High Court on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, disposed of an anticipatory bail application filed by activist Rahul Easwar, following a complaint of cyber harassment by a woman actor. The decision came after the police reported that no formal case had been registered against Easwar based on the complaint.

During the hearing, the court noted the absence of any registered case against Easwar, rendering the anticipatory bail petition moot. However, Justice P.V. Kunhikrishnan issued a precautionary directive, stating that should any non-bailable offence be registered against Easwar in the future concerning this complaint, he must be given a two-week notice prior to any coercive action being taken.

In an interesting turn during the proceedings, when Easwar’s counsel mentioned his intention to form a men’s commission, Justice Kunhikrishnan advised him to aim to be a champion for all citizens, not just men. This remark underscores the broader societal responsibilities that public figures often bear.
