Karisma Kapoor’s Children Move Delhi High Court Over Dispute in Sunjay Kapur’s Rs 30,000 Crore Estate

A high-stakes legal battle has unfolded in the Delhi High Court as Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor’s two children have petitioned for a share in the sprawling ₹30,000 crore estate of their late father, industrialist Sunjay Kapur. The matter is listed for hearing on September 10.

The petition contests the authenticity of a will allegedly executed by Sunjay Kapur, who passed away suddenly on June 12, 2025, while playing polo in Windsor, UK. The children claim they were never informed of any such will by either their father or their stepmother, Priya Kapur, and suspect it may have been fabricated.

According to their plaint, Priya Kapur initially denied the existence of any will, asserting that all assets were held under the RK Family Trust. However, she later produced a document dated March 21, 2025, claiming it to be the will, which the plaintiffs allege raises serious doubts of forgery and manipulation.

The plaintiffs — Karisma Kapoor’s daughter and minor son — are represented in court through their mother. The case names multiple defendants:

  • Priya Kapur, widow of Sunjay Kapur, and her minor son.
  • Rani Kapur, Sunjay’s mother and former chairperson of Sona Comstar.
  • A woman who has identified herself as the executor of the will.

The children insist their father had always assured them of financial security, initiated ventures in their names, and designated them as beneficiaries of family assets and trusts.

Adding another layer of complexity, Sunjay Kapur’s mother, Rani Kapur, has separately sought an investigation into what she terms the “unexplained circumstances” of her son’s death. In August, she filed a criminal complaint with UK police, alleging possible foul play, including murder, conspiracy, and forgery.

In an emotional video message, she said: “I still don’t know what happened to my son. I’m old now. I need closure before I go.”

US authorities are also reported to be monitoring the matter closely, as Sunjay Kapur held American citizenship.

The Delhi High Court is expected to first examine the contested will and determine the next steps in adjudicating the dispute over the massive estate. With allegations of forgery, family discord, and questions surrounding Sunjay Kapur’s death, the legal battle is likely to be protracted and closely watched.
