Born on March 3, 1956, Justice Tarun Agarwal had an illustrious career spanning decades. He graduated in Arts from Allahabad University in 1978 and earned his law degree from the same institution. Enrolled as an advocate in December 1981, he practiced extensively in civil law, constitutional law, taxation, labor matters, and corporate affairs at the Allahabad High Court.

Justice Agarwal was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court on January 7, 2004, and became a Permanent Judge on August 18, 2005. His tenure included a transfer to the Uttarakhand High Court in September 2009, where he briefly served as Acting Chief Justice. He was elevated to the post of Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court on 12 February 2018 until his retirement.
