Jayaprada Appears in Court Over Indecent Remarks Case

Actress and former Rampur MP, Jayaprada, attended a session at the local MP-MLA court on Monday, following the issuance of a non-bailable warrant against her for failing to appear to record her statement in an ongoing case. The case pertains to allegedly indecent remarks directed at her during a public function following the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Special Public Prosecutor Mohanlal Bishnoi highlighted the absence of Jayaprada at previous court sessions, which led to the issuance of the warrant. Her appearance this Monday was marked by the inability of the court to complete the hearing due to time constraints, with proceedings now rescheduled for October 25.

The remarks in question were reportedly made at an event held at a degree college within the Katghar police station’s jurisdiction, shortly after the election results were announced. The event saw the participation of prominent Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former cabinet minister Azam Khan, former Moradabad MP Dr. ST Hasan, and other notable figures.

The legal action was initiated by Mustafa Hussain, a resident of Rampur, who filed a case against Azam Khan, ST Hasan, Azam Khan’s son Abdullah Azam, Firoz Khan, Mohammad Arif, Azhar Khan, among others. Notably, Azam Khan is currently incarcerated in relation to different charges, while ST Hasan was unable to attend the court session.
