Indore Special Court Orders Confiscation of ₹71.74 Lakh Assets of Panchayat Employee, Wife in Disproportionate Assets Case

A special court in Indore has ordered the confiscation of movable and immovable properties worth ₹71.74 lakh belonging to a panchayat employee and his wife, nearly 11 years after the assets were unearthed during a Lokayukta raid.

Special Judge Abhishek Goyal, delivering the verdict on Tuesday, directed that the seized properties of Hanif Khan and his wife, Sabina Khan, be immediately handed over to the Alirajpur district magistrate under the Madhya Pradesh Special Courts Act, 2011.

In its order, the court observed that corruption undermines public administration and strongly condemned the acquisition of illicit wealth. “Corruption affects society and administration. The acquisition of such illegal assets is condemnable,” it said.

According to Lokayukta officials, a raid was conducted at Khan’s premises in 2014 following a complaint alleging corruption. Investigators claimed to have discovered assets disproportionate to his lawful income. Khan was serving as the panchayat secretary of Badibekal village in Alirajpur district at the time.
