Inauguration of Law Liga Football Tournament at Lucknow High Court: Senior Judge Masoodi Emphasizes on Physical and Mental Well-being of Lawyers

The “Law Liga” football tournament for lawyers, organized under the joint auspices of the Uttar Pradesh Advocates Sports Trust and the Awadh Bar Association of the Lucknow High Court, was inaugurated today. The event took place in the Mahamana Auditorium of the Awadh Bar, where the official banner, trophies, and team jerseys were unveiled.

The ceremony was presided over by Senior Judge of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court, Honorable Justice A.R. Masoodi, with Justice K.S. Pawar also in attendance. During the event, convenor Advocate Tanveer Ahmed provided details of the football tournament, explaining that a total of eight teams would compete in two pools, with each team comprising 12 lawyers. Matches will be 30 minutes long, split into two halves of 15 minutes each. Each team will have six players, including a goalkeeper on the field at any given time, while the remaining players will be substitutes and rotate at designated intervals.

A total of 96 players were selected through a lottery system and distributed among the eight teams. The team sponsors included senior advocates from the High Court: Mr. S.K. Kalia (Team Anchor: Dr. Rajat Rajan Singh), Dr. L.P. Mishra (Team Anchor: Rajeev Tripathi), Mr. Anil Kumar Tiwari (Team Anchor: Alok Saran), Mr. I.B. Singh (Team Anchor: Avinash Singh Visen), Mr. H.J.S. Parihar (Team Anchor: Abhinit Jaiswal), Mr. J.N. Mathur (Team Anchor: Mudit Agarwal), Mr. I.P. Singh Yadav (Team Anchor Pradeep Tiwari), and Mr. Sudeep Seth (Team Anchor: Aparajita Bansal).

In his address, Senior Judge Masoodi emphasized that while lawyers are dedicated to delivering justice, they often neglect their physical and mental health. He expressed hope that events like this football tournament would help lawyers discipline themselves, practice self-restraint, and relieve stress. Additionally, he noted that such initiatives would foster camaraderie and raise health awareness among the legal community.

Justice Pawar, reminiscing about his college days and his passion for football, expressed confidence that this “Law Liga” tournament, organized by the Awadh Bar Association and the U.P. Advocates Sports Trust, would set a new precedent in the history of the legal fraternity.

The program was successfully organized under the guidance of Manu Dixit, Amit Jaiswal, Mudit Agarwal, Nishant Singh, Shubham Tripathi, Aviral Singh, and others from the U.P. Advocates Sports Trust. The event was anchored by Advocate Rajeev Tripathi, while Awadh Bar President Mr. R.D. Shahi extended his thanks to all attendees and announced that the matches would be played at “Infinity Arena by Mr. Ten” in Vikrant Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, from September 6 to 8 and September 15 to 16, starting at 7 PM.
