In Major Judicial Reshuffle, Centre Notifies Transfer of High Court Judges

The Central Government on Tuesday notified the transfer of judges across various High Courts in the country. The notifications, dated October 14, 2025, were issued by the Ministry of Law & Justice, Department of Justice (Appointments Division).

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 222 of the Constitution of India, the President of India, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, ordered the transfers. The judges have been directed to assume charge of their respective offices in the High Courts to which they have been appointed.

The details of the transfers are as follows:

  • Shri Justice Avneesh Jhingan, Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, has been transferred to the Delhi High Court.
  • Shri Justice Dinesh Mehta, also a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, has been transferred to the Delhi High Court.
  • Smt. Justice Chandrasekharan Sudha, Judge of the Kerala High Court, has been transferred to the Delhi High Court.
  • Shri Justice Cheekati Manavendranath Roy, Judge of the Gujarat High Court, has been transferred to the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
  • Smt. Justice J. Nisha Banu, Judge of the Madras High Court, has been transferred to the Kerala High Court.
  • Shri Justice Sandeep Natvarlal Bhatt, Judge of the Gujarat High Court, has been transferred to the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

The notifications, signed by Jagannath Srinivasan, Joint Secretary to the Government of India, have been marked for publication in the Gazette of India. Copies have also been sent to the secretariats of the President and Prime Minister, the office of the Chief Justice of India, and the relevant state and court authorities.
