Impostor Posing as Chief Justice Chandrachud Seeks Cab Fare in Con Game

In an audacious move that highlights the increasing boldness of online scammers, a recent incident involving an individual impersonating Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, has caused quite a stir on social media. Kailash Meghwal, an unsuspecting user, received a fraudulent message from someone claiming to be the Chief Justice, requesting a seemingly small amount of money for transportation.

The message, as shared by Meghwal on his social media, showed the scammer pleading for ₹500 to cover cab fare from Connaught Place to the Supreme Court, citing an urgent collegium meeting as the reason for the request. To lend credibility to the message, it was craftily signed off with “Sent from iPad,” a common signature in emails and messages from actual iPads.

This peculiar scam is part of a broader trend of cybercrimes where scammers impersonate high-profile individuals to exploit the public. The audacity to impersonate a figure as prominent as the Chief Justice of India reflects a new level of brazenness among cybercriminals.
