Important Cases Heard by Delhi High Court on Thursday

Important cases heard in the Delhi High Court on Thursday, February 9:

* HC granted bail to Chitra Ramkrishna in the money laundering case related to alleged illegal phone tapping and snooping of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) employees, saying prima facie there are reasonable grounds to believe she is not guilty.

* Jasmine Shah urged HC to restore his privileges as the vice chairman of the Dialogue and Development Commission of Delhi (DDCD) and claimed the lieutenant governor’s reference to the president of the matter pertaining to his removal was not in accordance with law.

* HC asked the city government to ensure strict compliance of the motor vehicle law, including the standard operating procedure, on accepting electronic copies of driving licenses and other transport-related documents.

* HC closed the proceedings on a plea by two Delhi riots accused on prison conditions during COVID-19, saying as pandemic-related restrictions were not applicable anymore, there was nothing left in the matter.

* HC directed trial courts here to decide on priority the pending criminal cases against former and present lawmakers.

* HC heard a public interest litigation seeking directions to the city police to issue mandatory guidelines to invoke relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act whenever a complaint is made for lodging an FIR for an alleged cyber crime.
