In a shocking turn of events, a court in Hyderabad has handed down a life sentence to 36-year-old priest A Venkat Surya Sai Krishna, alias Sai Krishna, for the murder of a 30-year-old woman in June 2023. The court also imposed a Rs 10 lakh fine on Sai Krishna after finding him guilty under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to the prosecution, Sai Krishna, who was already married, deceitfully promised marriage to the victim, leading to an intimate relationship between them. The situation escalated when the woman demanded Sai Krishna marry her and threatened to expose their relationship if he did not. Frustrated by her demands, Sai Krishna plotted to end her life.
The prosecution detailed that on June 3, 2023, Sai Krishna lured the woman into his car under the pretext of discussing their situation. He then brutally attacked her by smothering her with a cover and striking her head with a stone, resulting in her death. Subsequently, he transported her body in his car and disposed of it in a manhole.

In an attempt to cover his tracks, Sai Krishna involved the victim’s mother by taking her to the police station to file a missing person report. He later attempted to conceal the crime by dumping two tipper loads of red soil into the manhole where he placed the body, burning the victim’s belongings, and finally sealing the manhole with concrete.
The case broke open when discrepancies in Sai Krishna’s account led police to review CCTV footage, revealing contradictions in his story. Under police interrogation, Sai Krishna confessed to the murder, leading to his arrest.
