Husband Can’t Deny Maintenance to Wife Merely Because She Earns More Than Husband: Mumbai Court

Mumbai: A sessions court has ordered a 52-year-old Ghatkopar businessman to pay Rs 16,000 in monthly maintenance to his 47-year-old estranged wife, who is an entrepreneur and earns Rs 30,000 every month, observing that a woman’s right to claim maintenance cannot be denied simply because she is employed and her husband earns less than her.
