Honeymoon Murder Case: Meghalaya Court Sends Wife and Her Alleged Lover to 13-Day Judicial Custody

A Meghalaya court on Saturday remanded Sonam Raghuvanshi and her alleged boyfriend Raj to 13-day judicial custody in connection with the sensational murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, whose body was discovered in a gorge in Sohra earlier this month.

The accused โ€” Rajaโ€™s wife Sonam and her purported paramour Raj โ€” were produced before the court after the expiry of their police custody. The special investigation team (SIT), which had been interrogating the duo, did not seek further custody.

โ€œThe accused were remanded to 13-day judicial custody. The police did not seek extension of the custody,โ€ confirmed Assistant Public Prosecutor Tushar Chanda.

According to the police, the victim and his wife were on their honeymoon in Meghalayaโ€™s Sohra region when they were reported missing on May 23. Days later, on June 2, Rajaโ€™s decomposed body was recovered from a gorge, raising serious suspicion about foul play. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Sonam and Raj, who are now the prime accused in the case.
