Recently, the High Court of Madras quashed criminal proceedings against some law students who had gathered outside their college after they were not permitted to celebrate the birthday of Dr. BR Ambedkar in advance. A Bench of Justice GR Swaminathan ruled that students assembling in front of the law college can’t be called unlawful assembly.
