The Gujarat High Court on Monday welcomed seven newly-appointed judges, raising the total number of serving judges to 39 out of a sanctioned strength of 52.
Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal administered the oath of office to the new judges in a ceremony attended by dignitaries, including Gujarat’s Law and Justice Minister Rushikesh Patel and Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi.
The appointments were notified by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice on May 1. The judicial officers who have now been elevated to the bench are:
- Justice Liyakathussain Shamsuddin Pirzad
- Justice Ramchandra Thakurdas Vachhani
- Justice Jayesh Lakhanshibhai Odedra
- Justice Pranav Raval
- Justice Mool Chand Tyagi
- Justice Dipak Mansukhlal Vyas
- Justice Utkarsh Thakorbhai Desai
With these appointments, the Gujarat High Court continues its efforts to bridge the gap in judicial strength and address the growing caseload more efficiently.
