Government Announces New Appointments to Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT)

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has made a significant announcement regarding the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). In a move aimed at bolstering the efficiency and effectiveness of CAT, the committee has appointed four new Judicial Members and twelve Administrative Members. These appointments are set for a term of four years or until the appointees reach the age of 67 years.

Judicial Members Appointed

The newly appointed Judicial Members come with extensive experience in the legal field. The list includes:

– Justice Harnaresh Singh Gill, a former judge at the Punjab & Haryana High Court, known for his profound legal acumen and extensive experience in handling complex legal matters.

Justice Padmaraj Nemachandra Desai, also a former judge, who served at the Karnataka High Court and is respected for his judicial prudence and integrity.

– Rajveer Singh Verma, currently serving as the Additional Secretary in the Department of Legal Affairs, brings a wealth of administrative and legal expertise to the tribunal.

Veena Kothavale, who holds the position of Additional Secretary in the Legislative Department, is recognized for her legislative insights and comprehensive legal knowledge.

Administrative Members Added

The Administrative Members, selected for their diverse backgrounds and administrative capabilities, include notable figures from various branches of the government service:

– Anjali Bhawra (IAS: 1988: PB), currently serving as the Secretary to the National Commission for Minorities, is known for her administrative skills and policy implementation.

Anjani Nandan Sharan (IFoS: 1985: BH), a former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of Forest Force, brings environmental and administrative experience to the table.

Hukum Singh Meena (IAS:1992: BH), formerly an Additional Secretary in the Department of Land Resources, has a background in land resource management.

Jaya Verma Sinha (IRTS: 1986), now Chairman & CEO of the Railway Board, offers her extensive experience in transport and infrastructure.

M L Srivastava (IFoS: 1989: Sikkim), who served as the Additional Chief Secretary for Tourism and Civil Aviation in Sikkim, is expected to contribute his tourism sector insights.

Other appointees include Mallika Arya, Pragya Sahay Saksena, Ram Mohan Johri, Sangam Narain Srivastava, Santosh Mehra, Sisir Kumar Ratho, and V Rama Mathew, each bringing unique perspectives from their respective fields of expertise.
