In a recent turn of events, Bengaluru’s High Grounds Police Station has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against YouTuber Ajeet Bharti. The complaint, filed by B.K. Bopanna, legal cell secretary of the Karnataka Congress, alleges that Bharti made inflammatory statements about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s intentions regarding the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
The controversial remarks were reportedly made in a video posted on the X website last Thursday, in which Bharti claimed that Rahul Gandhi planned to replace the newly constructed Ram temple with the Babri Masjid. This statement has sparked significant outrage, prompting legal action under the Indian Penal Code.
Bharti is accused under sections 153A, which pertains to promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony, and 505(2), which deals with making statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred, or ill-will between classes.
Bopanna’s complaint highlights the potential of Bharti’s speech to disrupt public peace and harmony, demanding stern legal measures against the YouTuber.
