FIR Filed Against Retired Judge and Wife Following Alleged Harassment and Suicide of Household Cook in Lucknow

In a heartbreaking incident in Lucknow, a retired judge’s cook, Mahesh Nishad, took his own life after releasing a distressing video and audio message blaming his employers for his decision. The cook was found deceased at his residence near Laxman Mela Ground Road, following his suicide.

Mahesh Nishad had been employed as a cook at the residence of the retired judge, Anil Shrivastava, and was recently accused of stealing ₹650,000 worth of goods from their home. This accusation led to what Mahesh described as continuous and severe harassment, primarily from Vandana Shrivastava, the judge’s wife.

Before his tragic death, Mahesh recorded a video in which he spoke to his mother, stating, “Mom, after today, I won’t meet you again because I am going to commit suicide.” This poignant message underscores the extreme distress he experienced.

Kavita Nishad, Mahesh’s wife, has filed a formal complaint against Anil and Vandana Shrivastava, leading to their arrest under IPC Section 108 for alleged harassment. The couple reportedly not only blamed Mahesh for the theft but also demanded money from him repeatedly, adding to his mental anguish.

The family of the deceased staged a protest by placing Mahesh’s body at the Laxman Mela Ground Road, demanding justice. They claim that Mahesh was taken to the Aliganj police station on March 17, detained overnight without any formal charges, and released the following morning, which further exacerbated his distress.
