A severe food poisoning incident involving Additional District Judge Manjula Sarkar has led to serious allegations against Neelkanth Sweets, a popular sweet shop in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. After consuming sweets from the establishment, Judge Sarkar, along with her sister Madhulika and maid Anita, experienced acute health issues resulting in an eight-day hospital stay for the judge.
The incident occurred on July 31, when Judge Sarkar purchased various sweets including 250 grams of Bundi Laddus from Neelkanth Sweets. Shortly after consuming the laddus at home, all three began experiencing severe abdominal pain and discomfort. Despite initially dismissing the symptoms, Judge Sarkar’s condition worsened dramatically, leading to her collapse in the court’s rest room on August 3, following which she was rushed to Health City Hospital in Gomti Nagar Extension.
Medical reports from Dr. Rakesh Srivastava indicated that Judge Sarkar suffered from a gastroenteric infection, which incurred medical expenses upwards of 62,000 rupees. In response to the incident, an FIR was lodged at Gomti Nagar police station against the owner and staff of Neelkanth Sweets.
